Jumpin' Jumpin'

Yesterday, what was supposed to be an OOTD 'shoot' turned into a disastuh. My camera was playing up and due to the time the lighting was crap, so in the end we tried to do jumping pictures. Hilarious yet hideous!

I have no idea how people do this successfully!

What're your thoughts? I think the clothing is gorgeous and the pictures are stunning, now if only they could incorporate this into every issue.

Bargain Boots

Whilst pursuing the sale in Evans on Monday, I came across these bad boys reduced from £65 to £20 and they're real leather, a saucy bargain if I do say so myself! The downfall is that due to Evans triple E sizing, I usually get a 7 or a 6 rather than my usual 8 so they're slightly too big. My feet are probably too small for my height anyway and I'm sure nobody else would notice they're too big but stomping around in these make me feel like even more of a giant and will take some getting used to! I did gets lots of comments on them though and I'm excited to try and find outfits to wear them with.

Here's an OOTD of me wearing them yesterday (excuse the face, it'd been a long day!):

OOTD: Don't Rain On My Parade

After a short week of sunshine it's back to being freezing and now it's raining! Not that a little chill stopped me from getting my legs out yesterday. Sod that it's cold and they could use a bit of sun!

If you haven't already, become a fan on Facebook? :)

Changing Room Ups & Downs

I'm unsure whether it's due to the influence of seeing changing room pictures on blogs, or because my Nana always insists upon it, but I've gotten into the habit of trying things on rather than just grabbing and going and it's really helping get an idea of what works and what really doesn't.

Take for example this dress:
I saw it on the New Look website and had to have it. It may not have been in a cute floral print like I'd seen in Topshop but it was a skater dress and perfect for what I had in mind. What I didn't count on was it looking this awful on. The scoop neck and back meant that it didn't sit right on my shoulders, the stretchy material highlighted every bump and the waist is so high it draped in all the wrong places.

Then there's this dress:
I saw it online and immediately thought how cute but I doubted the shape would look nice on me. I saw it in store, noticed it has pockets and fell in love so I decided to try it on and I still loved it. Which is probably why I'm kicking myself for not getting it! Next time I'm in New Look, this will be mine.

and I'm going to say that this qualifies as completing the Pretty in Plus challenge I agreed to do! Even though my arms are easily the part I hate the most about myself, it wasn't as hard as I thought. Check it out and give it a go?

Making It Work: Primark Edition

If you haven't heard of the term 'make it work' in regards to plus size fashion, then you're missing out! It goes against every rule about finding clothes that fit your body type and 'flatter' your figure but is a great way to expand on your wardrobe and find things for your style that may not be available within plus size ranges. If you haven't already check out Gabi's guide to making it work.

I feel that a good basic tip for determining whether an item is going to fit or not is to know your body type and know the shop.

What I mean by this is, I'm an apple shape (or an inverted triangle) which basically means I'm top heavy. Ignoring all of the rules which say what I shouldn't wear on the top half, when it comes to shopping I know that I'm going to have an easier time looking for things to wriggle on to my bottom half than my top due to my wide back/shoulders and arms. Due to this I tend to gravitate towards skirts. My best friend on the other hand is a pear shape so gravitates towards tops which may be more form fitting on the top but flow out over the hips ensuring a good fit.

Now about knowing the shop, this obviously isn't essential if you're able to visit the store and check out/try on pieces for yourself but it does help and comes in handy with online shopping. As this is eventually leading up to Primark, I will say that their sizing is inconsistent throughout and even within the same garment, their tops seem to run on the short and small side too. On the other hand, H&M main range sizing tends to run quite big and is generally forgiving (unlike their BiB range!).

Primark is every students dream, on trend clothing at ridiculously cheap prices. So it's a shame that their clothing stops at a UK18. Not that this has deterred me before! If you follow me on Twitter you may have noticed my tweet about a size 12, £2 skirt. I've been wanting a black tube skirt for a while, so I was beyond excited to come across one for £2! The downside being there was only two size 10's and a size 12. Determined to take one home, I grabbed a size 12 and went to the changing room and it fit! I managed to grab a grey one when I was in Leeds along with these other skirts:

I tried the grey skirt and the black with purple flowers in an 18 and found they weren't tight enough in the leg so went down to a 14 & 16 respectively. All of the skrits have lots of stretch and cost between £2 + £7 so I strongly suggest going to Primark and nabbing a bargain. When I can find them I'm determined to grab some of the £5 summer dresses I've seen in the blogging world.

Has anyone bought anything cute from Primark recently?

I'm Back

...and badder than ever (or at least I'd like to think so)! I hope everyone had a good St. Patrick's day, I'm not Irish but hey, who needs an excuse to get merry?

It turns out going to Leeds was a waste of time, I found out at the last minute I needed to book a place on the open day so, rang up and a useless man told me it was full and put the phone down, thank you for your complete lack of help! All was not lost though, I was staying with a friend who's at uni and we went shopping. Then on the night, drinking games and a night out were on the menu, needless to say I was a bit gone. To make this less wordy here's a picture. I couldn't decide between a cardigan or a blazer but I decided the blazer made it look as though I was going for an interview.

No idea what I'm standing on

On the bright side, being in Leeds reminded me how much I love the city and want to live there.

H&M Bargain!

I've seen this t-shirt on so many blogs and after seeing that it was selling for $5.99, I knew I had to get my hands on it! Luckily for me there were two left in the shop and they were selling for £2.99. Now I'm not going to sit and work out exchange rates but a t-shirt for £3 is bargainous enough for me! It doesn't fit on me the way I assume it's meant to be worn but I love the light material, flowy sleeves and asymmetric hem, it's the perfect summer T. I just wish I'd gotten to H&M in time to grab some in the other colours! If you haven't already go out and grab one ;)

I was slightly disappointed when raiding the New Look sale until, I came across this (sorry for the awful picture!). I am a blazer fanatic, contrary to what my wardrobe shows, so coming across blazers that fit and are reasonably priced is always good. That is, until I found out it wasn't in the sale...on the plus side(unintentional pun haha) I had a 20% off voucher so went ahead and got it anyway! Anyone else more successful?

I was going somewhere with this but I'm so tired that I've forgotten what it was. Moving on, I'm going to Leeds tomorrow until Thursday night so, unless I can squeeze a post in tomorrow morning, I'll see you all at the end of the week!

Have a good 'un :)

First Time At Lush (Review)

I'm a Body Shop fanatic and rarely have the time, or the patience, for baths. So, it's no big surprise that I've never been a fan of Lush. I've been dragged in a couple of times by friends and the smell and the overwhelming staff have never really done it for me. Anyway, unless you've been living under an internet rock, you'll have noticed that every blogger and vlogger out there seems to be raving about Lush. For the longest time I stayed on my hating high horse but after reading/listening to all the immense admiration, I caved and bought the cheapest/cutest thing I could find.

First of all I went around sniffing everything I had heard smelt amazing and probably looking like a loon in the process. I have to say, I wasn't impressed. In comparison to the Body Shop body butters for example, nothing smelt overwhelmingly good. Yeah, they smelt 'nice' but not good enough to warrant ridiculous prices for what is essentially soap.

Moving on to the little guy I got, he made my room smell amazing and turned the bath water blue and that's about it. I guess my skin felt softer afterwards but not noticeably and it didn't exactly make my bath smell amazing either. Maybe I'm expecting miracles but as of now I'm unimpressed! I'll be fair though and give their products another shot.

How do you rate Lush and what's your favourite product that I should try?

Look: Denim

I love denim. Which makes it pretty ridiculous that I don't own a pair of jeans. My go to outfit is a denim shirt with leggings (which happens to be what I'm wearing now)! Weirdly I like the new double denim trend, as long as it's done right and when it gets warmer I think I'm going to play around trying to work the look. We'll see how that goes.

5) I have an addiction with online/in store browsing and know pretty much all of the stock in my favourite shops!

7) I love sunshine! (I'm starting to think I have SAD syndrome) all of the sun recently has made me want to run around singing 'sun is in the sky oh why oh why would I wanna be anywhere else?'

Oscars

Even though I should have been doing assignments (or sleeping) I tuned in to watch the Oscars red carpet.

Smashed it!

Maybe next time...

Honourable Mention:

It was going to be Gabourey because as she said, "If Fashion Was Porn, This Dress Would Be The Money Shot." ;D but I feel as though not enough attention is given to the men of the night (or maybe I'm just a sucker for a man in a tux):

They didn't show the actual show over here, but who else watched and who's outfit did you like best?

OOTD: Weather Inappropriate

I can't believe I have over 100 followers! Especially as I've been slacking recently. Thank you guys so much for following, you have no idea how much I appreciate it :D

This past week has been filled with sunshine and clear blue skies but whilst everyone else has been moaning about how cold it is, I grabbed some sunglasses and decided to celebrate! My denim jacket has swiftly become my favourite item of clothing and I'm sure it'll be worn to death over the summer.

Addicted To Shopping

Although I now have 3 denim shirts, I've been looking for a denim jacket for the longest time but the only ones I've seen have been too expensive or in awful lengths/washes. The one from Faith 21 is perfect but I don't know if it would fit and I'm not willing to pay insane shipping prices to find out!

Anyway, I was in H&M the other day and decided to take a wander into the BiB section, I can't believe I've never looked in there before. There was a stand with jeggings, jeans and denim shirts and everyone who walked past was stopping to rifle through only to turn away disappointed when they realised they weren't in the regular section, always a good sign! I found several things I like but fell in love with this denim jacket and had to have it! From trying several things on, I think the line runs a bit small in comparison to the main range. I have dresses from the main range which fit fine yet some things I had to try 2 sizes bigger.

£24.99, H&M

Last week I got these fake UGGs from Primark as they were £5 and winter didn't seem to be disappearing any time soon.
4 days later and they'd pretty much fallen apart. They let me return them and as there wasn't any left, I got these lace ups. I'm actually glad they broke as I love these so much more. They're cute and comfy, I may have to grab another pair before they disappear.
£8, Primark

Trawling through the Evans sale rail, I caught a glimpse of this skirt and was hoping it was in my size and was a reasonable price (the Evans sale isn't usually much of a sale in my eyes). I almost jumped for joy when not only was it in my size, but it was reduced to £3! Needless to say I made a break for the till.
